Principal

Dear Por Vida Academy Families, Students, and Community,

It is an honor to introduce myself as the new Principal of Por Vida Academy Charter High School and to join this extraordinary school community in a new role. I hope that this note finds you enjoying the rejuvenating days of summer and that you and your children are looking forward to beginning a wonderful school year together this August. I can assure you that I share in this school community’s commitment to caring for your children every day while providing them with a world-class learning environment.

I have been with PVA as a dedicated English Teacher and Volleyball Coach, and I am eager to continue this year with my new role with Por Vida Academy. Prior to becoming the principal, I worked with students from 9th-12th grade in a variety of different roles on and off campus. I have been a History Teacher, English Teacher, Reading/Dyslexia Specialist, First-year Teacher Mentor, and Volleyball Coach. I am thrilled to utilize my skills as an educational leader at Por Vida Academy and work with you as a partner in education to ensure your child's success. Although I have always felt at home in the classroom, it is in my position as a High School principal where I have been most fulfilled in my life’s work. The High School principalship provides me the chance to work collaboratively with teachers daily, while also remaining connected to our students learning and growing in the classroom. I firmly believe that every child can excel and that the partnership between home and school builds confidence in students to use their powers to shape their future and the future of our community and our nation. My conversations with district staff, students, and families over the last few months have brought me privileged insights into the core beliefs and values that underlie the Por Vida Academy School District. My main goal is to continue the tradition of excellence here at Por Vida Academy, I am committed to always exploring new ways to meet the needs of all students and to communicate with parents and community members more effectively.

On a personal note, I have lived in San Antonio for now close to 10 years. I am a PROUD, University of Texas at San Antonio Alumni! Go Roadrunners! I view education as a life-long process and continue to learn every year from our students, teachers, and parents at Por Vida Academy. Most importantly, I believe that students are at the center of all school-related decisions. Because the relationships between families and the school are vital to the success of our students, I encourage you all to become involved in every way possible. I look forward to meeting each of you!

Warm Regards,

Mariza Loredo

Por Vida Academy Principal
